Walker Éireann imprint announced at Booksellers Conference

Walker Books has announced a new imprint which will be launched in September 2012.

Walker Éireann will initially publish four classic picturebooks in Irish.  All four will be by Irish Authors or Illustrators.
The response from the Booktrade and Library Suppliers has been universally positive no doubt due to the increasing number of Gaelscoileanna and the fact that an increasing number of parents wish to introduce their preschool children to the Irish as early as possible.  The translations are by the accomplished translator Gabriel Rosenstock who has done a wonderful job of reinterpreting the original texts so that they continue to delight this young age group but with language that is accessible to children and dare I say it, parents returning to Irish.

Quote from Siobhan Parkinson Laureate na n-Óg;
"It delights my heart to see these classic Irish books for children available for the first time in Irish.  Children, whether native speakers or learners of Irish, will be absolutely delighted to have these wonderful books which have been translated by Gabriel Rosenstock with relish and panache"

Sepetember 2012 will see the publication of
Stiúcaí Stiúgtha (The Ravenous Beast)
Ar Strae Beagán (A Bit Lost)
Tomhais Méid Mo Ghrá Duit (Guess How Much I Love You)
Ulchabháin Óga (Owl Babies)
